JEAN BAPTIST CHERY

Chery was born in Cap Haitian in 1954. His father worked as warden at the Citadelle, the fortress built by King Christophe. In 1973 Chery joined Obin’s workshop and learned much about painting. He paints landscapes and is known especially for his colorful scenes of workers picking cotton. He now lives between the Cap and Port-au-Prince.
